Skip it。 It is simply a chronicle of all the ways Grey bullies Rowley。 The other Rowley books （Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Adventure and Awesome Spooky Stories） are fun and adorable， but this one was just disappointing。

This book ruined the original DOAWK books for me。 I picked it up like “ ooo！ New blood” but the whole thing was Jeff Kinney dis- ing his own book。 The entire story was a rip-off DOAWK。 Jeff Kinney trying to recreate the magic but he got the formula for why kids love DOAWK wrong！ DOAWK is funny and yet this book had no laugh out loud moments。 In fact the story was boring and full of negative energy making me sad or grumpy。 Everything was was just a collection of moments when Greg bullied rowley。 This book ruined the original DOAWK books for me。 I picked it up like “ ooo！ New blood” but the whole thing was Jeff Kinney dis- ing his own book。 The entire story was a rip-off DOAWK。 Jeff Kinney trying to recreate the magic but he got the formula for why kids love DOAWK wrong！ DOAWK is funny and yet this book had no laugh out loud moments。 In fact the story was boring and full of negative energy making me sad or grumpy。 Everything was was just a collection of moments when Greg bullied rowley。 The reason people love DOAWK is （ of course） GREG！ Kids pick up more books because he is hilarious and RELATABLE！ Diary of an awesome friendly kid is destroying the protagonist of the series！ I will never read DOAWK the same anymore。。。。sadly。。。。after this book pointed out to me what a jerk The main character is。 And I really loved DOAWK， so thanks A LOT diary of an awesome friendly kid。 For the rest of my childhood I will be trying to forget what you said about one of my favorite “ whenever” books。 Greg on the cover was right。。。。。。 the book is bad and it is a DOAWK copy。 On TOP of all that the book had boring illustrations and no plot because the whole thing was flashbacks。 Would rate it 0 stars if I could。 。。。more

It was really good and is a fun and easy book to read for those who just want to burn time。 I defiantly recommend it， though even though its a pretty short book。 I ended up finishing it in an hour。 Hope this helps 😊

Wow。。。 This book was really interesting。 It was funny， had brilliant writing and had amazing illustrations。 This book definitely reminded me of the Diary of a wimpy kid series。 There was a lots of funny jokes from diary of a wimpy kid which were reused and made even more funnier， The POV was different which really mixed things up but was a good change and the comparison between books was also humorous。 I can't wait to read the next book。 Wow。。。 This book was really interesting。 It was funny， had brilliant writing and had amazing illustrations。 This book definitely reminded me of the Diary of a wimpy kid series。 There was a lots of funny jokes from diary of a wimpy kid which were reused and made even more funnier， The POV was different which really mixed things up but was a good change and the comparison between books was also humorous。 I can't wait to read the next book。 。。。more

2。5/5 It had a very rough beginning， but it found its stride about halfway through。 Still didn’t care for it。 The writing felt sloppy， and there was no story and there were no lessons learned。 However， I do like the idea of the sequels spinning off into fictional stories written by Rowley。 That sounds fun。

I had some high expectations for this book and while they weren't all met， I still found it a very enjoyeable read。 It offers a totally new perspectivd on the character of Greg， through the eyes of his best friend Rowley。 First， the fact that every character is drawn different from the main series is quite nice， it shows that Rowley has a different view on lot of characters。 My 2 favorites design were Rowley himself and Manny。 Here， Rowley kinda looks like just a normal kid whereas in the main s I had some high expectations for this book and while they weren't all met， I still found it a very enjoyeable read。 It offers a totally new perspectivd on the character of Greg， through the eyes of his best friend Rowley。 First， the fact that every character is drawn different from the main series is quite nice， it shows that Rowley has a different view on lot of characters。 My 2 favorites design were Rowley himself and Manny。 Here， Rowley kinda looks like just a normal kid whereas in the main series he looks like a dumb square-headed kid who never closes his mouth （in here he's often pictuted with mouth closed）。 Manny also looks like an ordinary kid， whereas in the main series he looks like some eldritch rat （fabulous design in both series as it informs the reader on the perception of the narrator）In this book， which is not narrated by Greg， Greg is even more of a shit than usual and frankly a really shitty and manipulative friend to Rowley。 It's great， because I'm sure a lot of people reading these book would look back at their own childhood and realized that they were at some point someone's Greg or someone's Rowley。 I myself have had times in ny life when I was a Greg， and other times when I was a Rowley， so stories like that that shows the childish cruelty， manipulation and barbarism of middle-grader are great because they are so relatable。One last thing， I find it really curious that Rowley's dad has dark hair here， while in the main series Greg always draw him with light hair。 I don't know what to make of it， but that's something I've noted。 。。。more

This book does have its giggles， but mostly， my kids talked about all the ways that Rowley was bullied by Greg and that they were glad their friends are not like Greg。 So， I guess it was good for my kiddos to make that realization。 But， I really feel bad that neither set of parents did much to help Greg learn to be a better person or Rowley learn he had worth。
